Jour à Toulouse

Today we took our first little adventure to downtown Toulouse which is absolutely incredible. Also incredible… the transportation. You hear all the time that it is so convenient to get around in Europe and I can say for myself that this is 100% true. The U.S. needs metros everywhere asap.

We realized quickly that about 20% of shops are open on Sunday’s in Toulouse so it was kind of difficult to find somewhere to eat. We eventually came upon a little bakery with the most amazing looking pastries and bread (picture below). I got a personal pizza with pineapple, chicken, cheese, and what I think was cream cheese in place of the sauce. Weird combination, I know. The dough is so dense that I was only able to eat three bites before I was full but it was delicious.

There was a cultural fair going on with countries from all around the world in front of the capital with different kinds of performances for all of the cultures. We checked out the United States tent, but they were grouped with England and they pretty much only had London information 😦 I’m kind of wondering if that’s on purpose.

We made it to the river (La Garonne) which looks like it will be a great place to be in the evening. The rest of our time we spent just wandering around and taking in the scenery. Luckily, we didn’t have much trouble with directions even though the streets are absolutely crazy here. They all run at different angles and cross in the weirdest places, I’m not sure how anyone gets around in a car. Guess that’s what the metro is for!

Au Revoir!

All of the streets look like this in some way or another. So beautiful
